Trio Arrested for Preying on Homeless

The pack of three is suspected in one attack on a homeless woman and may have been involved in a second incident with an elderly man.

A pack of robbers suspected of preying on the homeless in Watsonville was arrested Saturday evening, Watsonville police reported.

The two women and one man allegedly attacked a woman sleeping in a homeless camp on the 1000 block of Main Street. The man reportedly held a knife to her neck and struck her while demanding money, according to police. All three forced the woman to her feet and stole items from her pockets and camp site, police reported.

As the robbers fled, they threatened the woman and told her to not contact law enforcement, according to police. She called 911 and reported the crime, including the suspects' first names and descriptions, police said.

During the officers' search, a second person contacted police to report that they had witnessed a male and two females rob an elderly male near the Pajaro Bridge on Main Street and Riverside Drive.

Offiers located and arrested Casto Luna, 34, Veronica Leonor, 19, and Hilda Leonor, 37, on suspicion of armed robbery. All were booked into County Jail.

Looks like a mother daughter team. DISGUSTING, inhumans. I say, send them up the river for many years, but to a homeless encampment, not a cushy prison.

THere are many types of crime going on and I'm glad these 3 were caught. Homeless people have just as much right to protection as any other person. Great work WPD!

More like pieces of CRAP! They probably don't know what "work" means! To prey on the homeless is disgusting at the very least..
