Two Dead, Two Injured in Car Rollover at Pigeon Point Lighthouse

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Highway 1 was closed in both directions for two hours Monday afternoon after a vehicle traveling southbound rolled over and killed two people and injured the two passengers. The highway near Pigeon Point Lighthouse was re-opened after two hours, according to CHP.

At 3:33 p.m., a black Kia was traveling south on Highway 1 at an unknown speed. The driver drifted to the right and onto the right shoulder, then left crossing the south and northbound lanes. The driver lost control of the Kia causing it to roll over and came to rest on its roof off the roadway east of Highway 1.

The driver and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by on scene emergency personnel. The two other passengers were transported to Stanford University Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. 

This collision is currently under investigation and it is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.
