Two Hospitalized in Head-on Half Moon Bay Crash

State Highway 92 in Half Moon Bay was briefly shut down Wednesday because of the crash.

By Bay City News Service:

State Highway 92 in Half Moon Bay has re-opened Wednesday afternoon following a head-on collision that injured two drivers and blocked the highway in both directions.

According to San Mateo County sheriff's Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt, the collision was reported at 3:02 p.m. just east of the intersection of Highway 92 and state Highway 1.

A person driving a vehicle in the westbound direction crossed the center divide for unknown reasons, Rosenblatt said.

The vehicle then struck another vehicle traveling in the eastbound direction. The driver heading in the westbound direction had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken by helicopter to an area hospital, Rosenblatt said.

The other driver was transported via ambulance to a hospital. Both victims were conscious at the scene, Rosenblatt said. Highway 92 re-opened at 4:15 p.m.
