Unlicensed Drivers Caught Racing Down Airport Street, Police Assist Dog Left in Parked Car

Here's what went down in Half Moon Bay over the weekend.

Friday, Nov. 15

7:15 a.m. - Johnson Pier, Princeton - Information report - Deputy dispatched to report of a dog in a vehicle, with no food or water, which was parked in the sun. Deputies were able to remove the dog and provide it with water until its owner was located. The owner stated he left the dog for three hours. PHS was contacted and advised to release the dog to the owner.

7:30 a.m. - 0-100 block of N. Cabrillo, Half Moon Bay - Petty theft - Deputy dispatched to report of shoplifting, when a male juvenile was caught taking food items from a retail store. The case will be forwarded to the DA for review.

2:39 p.m. - 100 block of La Grande, Moss BeachDomestic disturbance.

6:22 p.m. - S. Cabrillo at Filbert, Half Moon Bay - Traffic collision - Deputies dispatched to report of motorcycle vs. vehicle collision. The motorcyclist received an injury to the knee and was transported to the hospital for medical care.

Saturday, Nov. 16

2:05 p.m. - Airport at Stanford, Princeton - Speed contest/Unlicensed driver - Deputy on patrol observed two vehicles racing side by side, and made contact with both juvenile drivers. Neither of the drivers had a license. Both were cited and released to a parent.

Sunday, Nov. 17

4:33 a.m. - 1800 block of Cabrillo Hwy., Half Moon Bay - Stolen vehicle/Receive stolen property/Vandalism - Deputies dispatched to report of stolen vehicle, when the suspect took a truck from a ranch, drove through a locked gate, and traveled north on SR1. The suspect was located when he stopped at a gas station and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

4 p.m. - 500 block of Kelly, Half Moon Bay - Information report - Deputy made contact with a transient male believed to be a suspect in an attempted shoplifting case of an outside law enforcement agency. The subject admitted to the attempted theft and his information was provided to that agency for their review.

6:08 p.m. - 200 block of S. Cabrillo, Half Moon Bay - DUI/Drive with suspended license - Deputy dispatched to report of possible intoxicated driver, and performed traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and was driving with a suspended license. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.
