Vandalism at Half Moon Bay High, Teenage Couple Detained For Fighting

Here's what went down in and around Half Moon Bay last weekend.

Friday, Nov. 1

1:01 a.m. – Fairway at Pinehurst Lane, Half Moon Bay – DUI - Deputies dispatched to report of possible intoxicated driver. The suspect vehicle was located and was observed driving in the wrong lane of traffic. The Deputy performed a traffic stop and found the driver appeared to be intoxicated. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to First Chance.

2:30 p.m. - 900 block of Bean Hollow Rd, Pescadero – Vandalism - Deputy dispatched to report of vandalism to vehicle, when unknown suspect(s) broke the window of a vehicle with a rock.

7:39 p.m. - 200 block of Dearborn Park, Pescadero - Misdemeanor warrant - Deputies made contact with a subject wanted on a misdemeanor warrant out of San Mateo County. He was arrested and transported to San Mateo County Jail.

8:15 p.m. - 4200 block of N. Cabrillo, Half Moon Bay - Vehicle burglary - Deputy took report of theft from vehicle, when unknown suspect(s) smashed the window of a vehicle, and took a purse and checkbook valued at $300.

9  p.m. - 8100 block of Cabrillo Hwy., Moss Beach - Attempted vehicle burglary - Deputy took report of theft from vehicle, when unknown suspect(s) smashed a vehicle window. The victim noticed a rear seat had been moved, but nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle.

Saturday, Nov. 2

6:30 a.m. - Cabrillo Hwy at Capistrano, Princeton - Vehicle burglary - Deputy took report of theft from vehicle, when unknown suspect(s) smashed a window to the vehicle and took a wallet containing $400 and various credit cards, from the center console. 

7:30 a.m. – Half Moon Bay High School – Vandalism - Deputy dispatched to report of vandalism to the high school snack bar, when unknown suspect(s) broke a window. Nothing appeared to be missing from within.

Sunday, Nov. 3

9 a.m. - 200 block of Poplar, Half Moon Bay - Domestic battery - Deputies dispatched to report of disturbance when a teenage couple got into an argument and a physical altercation ensued. The juveniles were detained and released to their parents. Both parties had minor injuries, and the case will be forwarded to the DA for review. 

3:30 p.m. - 13000 block of Pescadero Creek Rd, La Honda - Petty Theft - Deputy took report of theft of a payment box from a campground, when unknown suspect(s) ripped the entire box out of the ground. The box was estimated to contain $50 and the box itself was valued at $200.

5:06 p.m. - 1600 block of Pescadero Creek Rd, Pescadero - Elder abuse/Assault with deadly weapon/Residential burglary/False imprisonment/Possession controlled substance/Under influence controlled substance/Animal cruelty - Deputies dispatched to report of disturbance in progress, when the reporting party advised one of his employees went “nuts” and tried to attack his mother and her puppy before fleeing on foot. The reporting party stated he believed the suspect to be under the influence of a controlled substance. While en-route Deputies were advised the subject had returned to the property, where he was located and detained, and admitted to having just smoked methamphetamine. Deputies determined the suspect had smashed a sliding glass door to make entry to the residence, and grabbed a small puppy, forcing water down the puppy’s throat. When the 67 year-old woman attempted to intervene, the suspect placed her in a choke hold and forced large amounts of water into her mouth also. The woman was eventually able to convince the man to stop attacking her by using a ruse, and the man fled on foot. The woman had complaints of pain, but no visible injuries. The dog appeared to be uninjured but the woman stated she would take him to her veterinarian. The suspect was arrested on numerous charges and transported to San Mateo County Jail.
