Caltrain Highlights Safety in New Campaign

The transit agency is kicking off a year-long campaign to encourage safety on and near the trains and tracks.

Caltrain is asking riders to share their thoughts and experiences with the railway system as part of a year-long campaign titled "See Something – Say Something."

The campaign, which kicks off this month, encourages passengers to promote safety through the rail system and reminds customers of safe behavior near the railroads, agency spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.

Even the average person needs to exercise caution in public places and serve as the eyes and ears for the community, she said.

Each month, Caltrain will highlight a different safety message, some of which target system-wide safety and others that emphasize personal responsibility around an active railroad.

Riders will see messages on the electronic station signs, on the agency’s website, using social media outlets and through announcements onboard the train.

This month’s message reminds customers that, “We can all count on a safe ride if we look out for each other.”

Caltrain passengers have made the system part of their regular routine, making the rider most likely to notice when something seems out of place or when someone is behaving in an unsafe manner.
