Is Your Student a Leader?

It's application time for the Leadership Award, which recognizes the outstanding achievements and leadership of middle school and high school students in Half Moon Bay.

 

The application process for the City of Half Moon Bay's inaugural Leadership Award is now open. The award is intended to recognize the outstanding achievements and leadership of middle school and high school students within our community.

Five awards will be given, one each for middle school, freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior level students. The four underclassmen awardees will each receive a $100 scholarship, and the Senior awardee will receive a $500 scholarship. The winners will be selected by the Award Selection Committee, which will be made up of the Mayor and two Recreation Committee Members. The Committee will review each applicant’s noteworthy achievements in citizenship and leadership, including such areas as work ethic, community service, leadership, citizenship, and/or overcoming obstacles to accomplish goals.

To qualify, the recipient:

• Must be a student in good standing enrolled in any middle school or high school

• Must be a resident of the City of Half Moon Bay

• Must have a good attendance and academic record

• Must have volunteered in the community

• Must illustrate leadership skills or exemplary citizenship

• May have overcome adversity or serve as a role model to others

    Applications can be downloaded at www.hmbcity.com or picked up in person at Half Moon Bay City Hall ─ 501 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019. Completed applications are due at Half Moon Bay City Hall or via email to LeadershipAward@hmbcity.com by 5pm on Friday May 10, 2013. Late applications will not be considered.
