MEASURE E PARCEL TAX: Exemption Forms Available
Eligible property owners must apply by June 30 to be considered exempt from paying the $150 per parcel.
The announced last week that those exempt from paying Measure E, the $150 per-parcel tax passed on June 8 last year, have until June 30, 2011 to apply for an exemption.
Those who qualify for the exemption, according to the District, are property owners 65 years of age, as well as those who own at least two contiguous properties. Coastside residents who do not own property within the boundaries of the District do not have to pay the parcel tax.
Application forms are available at the Cabrillo Unified School District website. Those who received an exemption for the 2010-2011 fiscal year will receive an application in the mail. Those who do not receive the application by April 31 should call 1-800-273-5167. Eligible property owners must continue to apply for an exemption each year, even after being approved for the exemption.
