Measure S Takes the Lead in Vote Update

Final results on the tax bond measure for local schools are expected this Wednesday.

The second update of late mail-in and provisional ballots on Measure S was released today and shows 56.36% in favor of the tax bond measure for Coastside schools.

There are still more ballots to be counted before Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, officially certifies the final results, which aren’t expected until Wednesday, June 13, at 4:30 p.m.

If approved, Measure S will allow the school district to borrow $81 million to complete basic classroom repairs and equip all schools with updated learning technology and science labs to prepare students for college and careers. The debt would be repaid over a 40-year period. It will cost about $45 per year in additional property taxes for each $100,000 of assessed valuation.
