President Obama Arrives at SFO

President Barack Obama has arrived in the Bay Area and is heading to San Francisco for a visit that will begin with a stop at a Chinatown community center where he will speak about immigration reform.

Air Force One touched down at San Francisco International Airport at 10:37 a.m. The president flew in this morning from Seattle, another stop on his three-day West Coast fundraising tour.

Among those waiting to greet him on the tarmac this morning was U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein. The senator met the president at the bottom of Air Force One's steps, where the two had an animated conversation that lasted several minutes.

Afterward, Obama shook hands with some of the dozens of people who had been invited to witness his arrival, then got into a black Chevrolet Suburban and drove off with his motorcade.

The president is heading from the airport to the Betty Ong Recreation Center at 1199 Mason St. in San Francisco, where he will give brief remarks calling on Congress to pass immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for those currently living in the country illegally and measures to strengthen border security.

He is then scheduled to attend a Democratic National Committee fundraiser at the SFJazz Center at 201 Franklin St.

A private fundraising event at Salesforce.com founder Marc Benioff's home will cap Obama's quick visit before he heads back to the airport to fly to the Los Angeles area this afternoon.

As with Obama's last Bay Area visit in June, the president will be met by protesters who will be calling attention to various issues including the proposed Keystone XL pipeline and the Obama administration's drone policy.
