VIDEO: County Announces $8,000 Homeowner Rebate Program

San Mateo County residents can cash in on a total of $8,000 in rebates by making their homes more energy efficient.

Gary from Redwood City is the perfect example of a San Mateo County homeowner who could receive up to $4,000 in rebates from PG&E for energy upgrades. And now, he is eligible for another $4,000 from the county’s new Energy Upgrade program, San Mateo County Supervisor Dave Pine announced today.

Homeowners have until March 2012 to take advantage of the county’s program.

Though Gary has also installed solar panels on his roof and drives an electric car, it’s the small steps that have actually reduced his overall energy use. Gary, who preferred not to have his last name printed, is reducing his carbon footprint with double paned windows and a hallway sun tube to let in more light.
