VIDEO: Meet New Harbor Master Scott Grindy

Interview with head of operations at Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay and Oyster Point Marina in South San Francisco.

 

, the 's new harbor master, has been on the job at Half Moon Bay's Pillar Point Harbor and South San Francisco's Oyster Point Marina for three weeks. Grindy succeeds , who left the district in December.

Grindy was previously the facilities and security director at the Port of Everett in Washington, a marina with 2,400 berths. He has also worked with the Department of the Homeland Security as an executive member of the Area Maritime Security Committee.

Half Moon Bay Patch caught up with Grindy Thursday afternoon at Pillar Point Harbor. The new harbor master spoke about his background and the priorities he plans to take on in his new job.

Grindy was part of the crowd which assembled to see 80,000 juvenile salmon at the end of Johnson Pier.
