Warren Slocum to Be Sworn in as Supervisor Monday

Redwood City resident Warren Slocum will be sworn in as the newest member on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in a special ceremony Monday.

Redwood City Mayor Alicia Aguirre is being given the special honor of swearing him in during the Supervisors' special meeting, to take place at 6 p.m. at the Fair Oaks Community Center, 2600 Middlefield Road in Redwood City.

Patch will be on hand to film the event for a video to publish Tuesday morning. We have also scheduled a private interview with Slocum to ask him what his priorities are for his new office and what he hopes to start work on first, which will be published Monday.

In other news, the County Supervisors will be bidding farewell to longtime County Supervisor Rose Jacobs Gibson, whose term is ending, on Tuesday.

Jacobs Gibson has served on the County Board of Supervisors since 1999, and therefore is now barred from serving another term.

The Supervisors will say goodbye to Gibson during its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 9 a.m. at the County Center in Redwood City.

In taking Jacobs Gibson's seat on the Board, Slocum will be representing District 4, which includes Redwood City, Menlo Park, East Palo Alto and the unincorporated areas of North Fair Oaks and Oak Knoll.

Tuesday evening, the Supervisors will reconvene to select the Board's president and vice-president during a meeting at 6 p.m. in the theater at Terra Nova High School, 1450 Terra Nova Blvd. in Pacifica.
