What Improvements Do Our Local Roads and Highways Need?
The transportation authority has $100 million in funds to spend to improve safety and congestion on local highways. What do you think it should be spent on?
The San Mateo County Transportation Authority has $100 million to spend — and they want to know what you think it should be spent on.
The agency this week announced a call for projects for the Measure A Highway Program. The goal of the program is to fund highway and roadway projects which reduce congestion and improve safety on commute corridors.
Approximately $100 million in project funds are available for the current cycle. The funds are collected as part of the Measure A transportation program passed by San Mateo County voters in 2004 to fund transit, shuttle, paratransit and road and highway projects throughout the county.

Companies that have ideas on how local roadways could be improved and congestion reduced are invited to apply to be hired for suitable projects.
Applicants are encouraged to review the draft guidelines and application forms posted on the TA website. Final versions of the guidelines and application forms will be posted May 24.
Applicants are requested to submit a non-binding Statement of Interest to chungc@samtrans.com by Friday, June 1 at 4 p.m. The Statement of Interest would list the projects, funding and technical assistance requests which the applicant will potentially submit for this Call for Projects. This will guide the level of effort needed to support this first-cycle Call for Projects.
Applications for the Highway Call for Projects are due by Friday, June 29 at 4 p.m.
