What You Need to Know About the May 3 Election

Six candidates vie for one seat on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors

This is a special election. Votes cast by mail will be the only ones counted in the race for county supervisor.  There is no "in-person" voting using ballot boxes.

Why is this election special?

Last November, voters selected Mark Church as San Mateo County Elections Officer, vacating a position on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors for the District 1 spot.  This month, San Mateo County residents decide who will fill his role. Voters can only vote by mail.
