Who Knows What the New Fence Along Highway 1 is All About?

Wondering what the fence is all about along Highway 1 between Terrace Avenue and Grandview Boulevard?

We know some of you are. Half Moon Bay Patch readers sent in e-mails the past couple of days wanting to know what's going on.

So here's your answer: It’s a hog wire fence.

On Feb. 10, 2012, Larry Carnahan on behalf of the City of Half Moon Bay’s Public Works Department submitted an application for a Coastal Development Permit to allow the installation of a hog wire fence beginning at the northwest corner to the southeast corner of the property boundary along Highway 1, and along various lengths of the southern property boundary known as the Cabrillo Property, two parcels approximately 35 acres owned by the City of Half Moon Bay.

According to the Planning Director report from June 19, 2012, there has been dumping of household trash and debris on the property, and in order to deter this from continuing to happen, the City proposed the installation of fencing along the most direct access points to the property.
