The list of semi-finalists in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Corporation, released last week, included a student from Half Moon Bay.
Semi-finalists in the academically prestigious competion will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $48 million, to be offered next spring.
Only the top 1 percent of applicants in the nation receive National Merit finalist recognition, which they enter each year by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The standardized test measures critical reading, math problem-solving and writing skills.
Congratulations to Victor Li from Half Moon Bay High School!
