Locals Step in as 'Principal for the Day' at Cabrillo Unified Schools

Community members meet with staff, students and observe classes in effort to better understand academic environment.

In an effort to promote greater understanding of the challenges faced by school leaders in today's academic environment — as well as strengthen community ties — Coastside community members and media representatives will shadow seven principals throughout the today.

Organized by the San Mateo County Office of Education, the guest principal program will be taking place at 40 schools throughout the county.

Temporary "principals" will meet with the principal, other school staff, parents and students. They will also tour school facilities and observe classes.

Cabrillo Unified's principals for the day are Rev. Mike Eckert () with the , the 's Michele Hannegan (El Granada Elementary), Peter Lowenberg (Farallone View Elementary) with the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce, AM 1710 Neighborhood Radio's (), San  Mateo County Sheriff's Office Deputy/School Resource Officer (), reporter Lily Bixler (Kings Mountain Elementary) and Michael Denning ().
