Senior Joseph Lowman has proved his athleticism time and again during his years at Half Moon Bay High School.

Joseph Lowman, being one of the few remaining three sport athletes for the senior class, has proved his athleticism time and again during his years at Half Moon Bay High School (HMBHS).

He has not only participated in football, wrestling, and track, but has also excelled in all three. Due to his success, sportmanship and well-roundedness in all three sports, Lowman was voted by the HMBHS Journalism class as the high school's Athlete of the Year.

Lowman started the year out on the field playing football. Despite the disappointing season by the Varsity Cougar team, Lowman continued to thrive, winning First Team All-League along with the Jack Coolidge Award. He won both these prestigious titles his senior and junior year.

The wrestling season followed, and was a huge success for Lowman to conclude his senior year. After being one of the top wrestlers in the PAL league, Lowman found his way past the CCS and into State.

To sum up his tri-sport career, he entered the track squad as a thrower. With some confusion, Lowman thought he had broken the school record, but after further research, the school record was deemed unbroken. Lowman finished second in PAL and then went on to CCS.

But what truly makes Lowman the Athlete of the Year is his notorious sportsmanship on and off the field.

He will attend MIT in Boston next year and plans to play football and major in either aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering.
