A new charter school on the Peninsula is gearing up for a big grand opening this fall, for the start of its first school year.

Though the school plans to offer kindergarten through eighth grades eventually, it will start with kindergarten, first, second and sixth for its first year.

In an update sent to the school's followers earlier this week, CCCS representatives indicated that the search for the school's founding principal is going well, and that the school is ready to begin interviewing potential teacher candidates now.

"Our interview process for 'Founding Principal' is in full swing," representatives said. "We are so excited by the wonderful candidates. We’ll have a tough time picking, but we can’t wait to bring our leader on board."

Meanwhile, the school wants to begin accepting applications for kindergarten, first-, second- and eighth-grade "founding" teachers.

"We’re looking for a few incredible teachers.  If you know any educators who can bring our hands-on model to life while helping children learn empathy and self-management, send them our way!" school representatives said.

The school pointed out that, while CCCS will be part of the Redwood City School District, all CCCS employees and teachers will work directly for the school and not be employees of the district.

A complete job description for CCCS founding teachers is here.

The school is also well into its application period for the 2013-14 school year, to begin in the fall along with the rest of RCSD. The final day to submit an application is coming up on Feb. 28. Applications can be found here. Keep in mind postmarks don't count, the applications must be received by Feb. 28 - interested families can drop them off in person at the school's Redwood City office if necessary.
