Over $5,000 Raised for Half Moon Bay High at Test Drive Event

Funds to go towards tutoring, field trips, guest speakers and classroom supplies.

Over 200 community members in Half Moon Bay came out on Saturday to test drive a car at the . dealership in an effort to raise funds for .

Organized by the school's Parents Advisory Committee, the raised over $5,000, thanks to a $20 donation for each test drive from the Ford Motor Company and James Ford along with an extra contribution from the dealership.

“We are thrilled that so many people from the community turned out to support Half Moon Bay High School, and I’ve never been more proud to be a Ford dealer," said Jami Stevens of James Ford.

Funds will go towards after-school tutoring, field trips, guest speakers and classroom supplies. The money will be administered by the Half Moon Bay High , a volunteer group that supports the school's academic and enrichment programs.

“With all the cutbacks in school budgets, finding creative ways to fun-raise is imperative,” said Parent Advisory Committee co-chair Lori Mattel.  “What they’re doing is a blessing for our students."
