The girls' team came in second place out of five schools, and five of the Sea Crest girls' runners finished in the top 20.

Coach Deirdre Harger was pleased with her team's performance.

"Some of these kids had never competed like this before," Harger said. "The season goal is to continually improve over the season and have your best performance on championship day."

"These teams did all that, and their spirit and support for each other was amazing," she said.

"I've been a runner for over 30 years, and coaching these kids has really renewed my passion for running," Harger said.
