Coastside Parents to Protest State Budget Cuts to Education

Locals to gather at Thursday morning rally and demand state stop cuts to education.

This Thursday, March 15, the notorious “Pink Slip” day when thousands of teachers get lay-off notices, a group of Coastside parents and students are planning a rally at 7 a.m. at the corner of Kelly and Highway 1 to protest the State's funding cuts to education and demand that the legislature do their job and create a balanced budget with no cuts to education.

The organized event is part of a larger initiative through Educate Our State’s website. According to the website, the event is called "This Budget Blows" and in protest of budget cuts, parents and students will be blowing bubbles to tell State leaders, “Don’t blow it! You have the power to fully fund education now!”

Educate Our State is a parent-led, statewide campaign to unite the voices of Californians in support of high-quality K-12 public education and demand real change.
