Elegant Cheese Cakes Bakes A Lot More Than Just Cheese Cake

Edible works of art from Half Moon Bay-based business look like they belong in a gallery but taste so delicious.

Just this past weekend, Elegant Cheese Cakes owner and pastry chef Susan Morgan whipped up some interesting cake orders: a purple handbag cake for an 18th birthday party and a suitcase and cookbook cake for a chef also celebrating a birthday.

But orders like these aren't really too unusual for the Half Moon Bay based cake maker, who is used to creating customized cakes according to the whims of her customers. 

"Yes, Elegant Cheese Cakes does more than cheesecake!" said Morgan who has been designing wedding cakes, celebration cakes, and other chocolate delicacies since 1988 out of a commercial kitchen in Half Moon Bay. "We have something for everyone and every budget right here on the Coast."

Heralded as one of the top “25 trendsetters” in Modern Bride, Morgan is known as a "master chocolatière" as she pairs her imaginative chocolate artistry with original flavors in her cheesecakes and traditional cakes.

She and her hardworking team of artisans can be found at 103 Harvard Ave., #2, in Princeton where they have a seasonal selection of “In a Rush” cakes perfect for that last minute gift that are available to ship today. From wedding and birthday to holiday and corporate gift cakes, there seems to be a cake for everyone at Elegant Cheese Cakes.

Most custom cakes need a minimum of four days lead time, however Morgan will "jump through hoops" to make it happen.

She spares no expense in choosing quality ingredients in her always-made-from-scratch desserts and prides herself on using only pure ingredients in her many flavors of cheesecakes and crusts and traditional desserts. 

All the cakes pictured here in the photo gallery above are done with imported chocolate with a combination of chocolate decadence and white chocolate butter cake with Heath crunch butter cream.
