Giants Teach Youth About Financial Responsibility

"Financial Baseball" taught by Ryan Vogelsong and Dave Dravecky before Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Before Saturday's match against the Arizona Diamondbacks, two San
Francisco Giants players took the time to teach young players how to hit a homerun when it comes to being financially savvy.

Pitcher Ryan Vogelsong and Dave Dravecky, the Giants legend who
retired in 1989 after cancer in his pitching arm cut his career short, will engage students from the Junior Giants baseball program in a game of "Financial Baseball" at noon today at AT&T Park.

The game, which is part of a financial literacy workshop being
held at the ballpark, asks students from the San Bruno Junior Giants program to answer money-management questions correctly to advance around the bases.

Vogelsong and Dravecky are expected to share their personal
experiences in the importance of money management before leading the students in the game, which uses financial questions from Visa Inc.'s "Practical Money Skills for Life" program.

"Kids need to know how to make smart money management decisions
early in life," Vogelsong said in a statement released Saturday. "It takes the creative and combined efforts of parents, teachers and mentors within the community to give students a strong background in personal finance."

The exercise is based on Visa's other financial literary games,
"Financial Football" and "Financial Soccer," which have been embraced by government officials, teachers, parents and students, according to a Visa representative.

"If doesn't matter whether you make minimum wage or millions of
dollars," Dravecky said in the statement. "If you don't learn to budget,
save, invest and pay bills on time, the consequences can be overwhelming."
