List of Inductees to Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame

About 250 people attended the induction ceremony, held in conjunction with the San Mateo County Fair.

Carlmont High grad Mark Speckman, now the head football coach at Menlo College, was the keynote speaker at the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame banquet in San Mateo last week, local journalist John Horgan reports in his blog, Horgan's County Corner.

About 250 people attended the affair, held at  the San Mateo County Event Center in conjunction with the San Mateo County Fair. 

Speckman, who popularized the 'fly offense' at Merced High (Merced County), is also a noted motivational speaker. 

Among the inductees were Menlo-Atherton High grad Chuck Bradley, who appeared briefly in the NFL, current San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, a star quarterback at Palo Alto High and Michigan University before spending more than a dozen years in the NFL, and Jefferson High grad Edwin Mulitalo, who also played in the NFL.

Sequoia High grad Paul Noce, son of former College of San Mateo baseball coach John Noce, was also among those inducted. He played with the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds in Major League Baseball. He played for the Reds during their world championship season of 1990.

Hillsdale High grad Nancy Dinges, one of the leading 3-point shooters during her prep and college days (at University of Pacific), was also inducted.

Burlingame High grad Katie May was a multisport standout who went on to play softball at University of California.

Capuchino High grad Erica Reynolds Woliczko went on to play softball at UOP.

Hillsdale High grad Mark Reischling played basketball at Chico State and became an NCAA referee.

Warren Smith attended Hoitt’s private school in Burlingame in the late 19th Century and later played baseball, football and set a school record for the hammer throw in track and field at Cal. He graduated from Cal in 1902 where he was a Hall of Fame inductee.
