Jeff Clark: No Mavericks Surf Contest This Week
Half Moon Bay big wave contest organizer gives heads up to competitors and public agencies providing security on day of contest.
Big wave surfing fans will have to wait at least another week before the 2011-2012 Mavericks Invitational contest hits the shores off Half Moon Bay, according to contest director and veteran Mavericks surfer Jeff Clark.
"After checking the wave and wind models for the week and a blackout for access to the point at the end of the week, we will not be holding the Mavericks Invitational this week," Clark wrote in an email sent on Monday, Feb. 20 to Mavericks contest competitors, public agencies and fellow contest organizers.
"When the next contest worthy day happens, we are going to pull the trigger," Clark's email concluded.
