Calling All Geezer Surfers!

It's a huge weekend for surfers. A contest for surfers 'of a certain age', one for serious competitors, and a beach cleanup. Surf's up!!

 

The San Mateo County Chapters of the Surfrider Foundation will hold its 13th Annual Kahuna Kapuna amateur surf contest in Pacifica Saturday, aimed at surfers age 40 and over. It's a fun day for surfers and spectators alike with food, raffles, and live music.

The age divisions represented this year:

  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60-64
  • 65-69
  • 70-74
  • 75-79

The competition kicks off at 7 a.m. and runs all day. It's location is Linda Mar, Pacifica State Beach, Pacifica, 94044.

A Pro/Am Surf Contest will be held in the same place Sunday.  It also starts at 7 a.m.

If surfing isn't your sport but your heart soars at the opportunity to volunteer for a good cause, a Beach Cleanup will be held Sunday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Everything will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own work gloves if you have a favorite pair.
