A parade of pooches took over Coyote Point Park in San Mateo on Saturday for the Peninsula Humane Society's 17th annual "Mutt Strutt," designed to raise money and awareness for animals at the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA, organization representatives said.
Dog owners and their pooches participated in either a 1-kilometer or 3-kilometer stroll through Coyote Point Park.
Mutts were invited to compete in contests before the walk to earn the title of "Most Talented" or "Best Costume."
There was also food, music, animal demonstrations, and many dog-friendly vendors including dog walkers, doggie treats and spots to have your dog's photo professionally taken.
In the past, the event has drawn between 300 to 400 people and raised more than $60,000 annually, representatives said.
Registration for the "Mutt Strutt" was $28 and participants were encouraged to collect additional pledges.
