Should communities have a say over what is an appropriate fashion statement?

Jeff Davis Parish in Louisiana has banned saggy pants, KPLC TV reported.

"I don't want my grandchild seeing someone's rear end," Betty Ballard told the TV station.

The ordinance means local law enforcement will be able to take action if someone is seen bustin a sag: They can issue a warning or a fine.

Sheriff Ivy Woods told KPLC that saggy pants displays a "total disregard for the respect of people around you."

Matt Gamble April 01, 2014 at 02:49 PM Hey nobody!! Brilliant commentary!! Um in case you didn't notice the president wants to ban these along with the mayor of New York City. The mayor of Chicago and so on....so I don't know if you just woke up from a 6 year nap or if this was just the first news story you have read in a decade or so. There has been plenty of indignation of harmless assault rifles that hardly anybody sees. _________________________________________________ Really??? I didn't know!!! But since they couldn't do anything about it, lets move forward and worry about what other people wear. I think we should ban short shorts and short shirts, at least if you are fat and hairy... and what about camel toes? ugh...

We should also ban speedos ""I don't want my grandchild seeing someone's rear end," Betty Ballard told the TV station." If we don't want to see the rear, why should we have to see the front. At least we all have the same rears!

Saggy pants look stupid. They make the individual wearing them look stupid. As a female, I would never date anyone who is so slovenly in their attire. However, on the plus side, there have been cases where idiots who commit crimes are caught by the cops when they are tripped up their cool hanging pants.... ;)

it is a trend ( not fashion ) that should have never been allowed in the first place as it is a type of disrespect both self and others and started in the prison and gang levels to hide weapons as well as one size fits all, ahyone who continues this type of dress and behaviour deserves to be looked on as they appear sloppy and uncaring of self and others...my brother loves the trend because they can not run, carry what they stole, and hold the pants up at the same time so are easy for police to catch...which is his job.
