Savannah is the Georgia city that's supposed to be somewhat quiet, impossibly quaint and beautifully quirky. And few activities are more Savannah than a horse-and-buggy ride through the city.

What was supposed to be a passive sight-seeing activity this week, though, became an adventure that nobody involved is likely to forget.

WSAV has obtained a copy of the surveillance video from downtown Savannah that shows a spooked horse bolting through the streets, plowing into parked cars and scaring pedestrians, not to mention the people in the buggy itself. The voice in the background is a call to emergency dispatchers.

The horse apparently got spooked by something and started running, and its driver and five passengers had no choice but to go along for a wild ride.

The five passengers, including three children, did have to jump from the carriage but they suffered only scrapes and bruises.

The horse was calmed and escaped unhurt.

Maybe he wanted to get back to the stable to watch the other 'horse' in Los Angeles 'channel' Audry Hepburn....who might that horse be? Kim Kardashian would be the beast of burden. Too bad she cannot channel some talent! John J. Nazarian, P.I. desperateexes.com

You can believe the Mayor of New York will use this footage to help his case to get rid of ALL horse drawn carriages in New York he promised he would do.

Horses should not be nose to exhaust pipe on city streets. That is cruelty and the horse had had enough.

A horse and carriage ride in a park, fine. But not on busy, crowded city streets. It's cruel to the horse and dangerous to everyone else. I'm with the NYC mayor on this one.

Poor horse. I hope someone equine rescue unit will relieve him from his present circumstances and either give him a good home or find him one.
