Coastside Jewish Community Gives Purim Baskets to Local Farmworkers and Puente

Children at the Coastside Jewish Community's Religious School in Half Moon Bay observed Purim -- celebrated this year on March 20 -- by giving to South Coast organization Puente.

The Jewish holiday of Purim tells the story of Mordechai and Queen Esther and how they helped save the Jewish people from the hands of the wicked Haman. Purim is a day of special friendship is shown to friends and where special gifts (Shalach Manos — gifts of charity) are given to those less fortunate.

For this year's Purim, which was celebrated around the world this year on March 20, the Coastside Jewish Community's Religious School in Half Moon Bay collected toys, books, toiletries and more for the children and farmworkers served by . The childrenpresented them to Executive Director on Sunday.
