Lend a Hand to a Fellow Coastsider in Need This Holiday

Coastside Hope sponsors the Adopt-A-Family Program.

Coastside Hope, a nonprofit organization that serves low income residents living from Montara to Pescadero, is currently administering an Adopt-a-Family program that the organization estimates helps approximately 350 seniors and families during each year.

Anyone can sign up to adopt a senior or a family through the program. The participants in the program prepare a list of needed essentials, which will serve as the shopping list for individual or family that signs up to adopt participants.

Coastside Hope recommends that spending for each family member should be between $50 - $60. Gifts are limited to clothing, toys, books and small gifts. Once the gifts have been purchased, they can be dropped off to 214 Harvard Ave in Princeton from late November to early December.

Signups to adopt a family or senior are being taken through Dec. 8. To sign up, call (650) 563-9706 or fill out the form posted to the right of this article.

Those who might not be able to donate money can volunteer their time as an elf who works to add additional gift items to the rest of the gifts each family will be receiving, or shop for items on behalf of sponsors who have adopted families, yet have no time to shop themselves.
