"(Stewart) thought that it was something that would be fun for the city and something that would be fun for us as an organization to do," Rees aid.

"It promotes health and it helps us raise awareness about the organization, and it helps us raise much needed funding."

The course traverses paved walking paths and dirt trails along the beach, passing the pier and circling around Sharp Park Golf Course before returning to Lacey.

A festival following the run will feature live music, face-painting, kids races, and local vendors. Sports and fitness vendors will also be on hand.

All participants will receive a free gift and refreshments and everyone 11-and-over will get a free t-shirt.

Registration is $25 before the event and $30 on the day of the event. Registration for children 11-17 is $10 and free for children 10 and younger.
