Final Vision Plan Meetings, Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District Board of Directors will finalize the district's Vision Plan and set the course for the next generation of regional open space planning including Tunitas Creek, Purisima Creek Redwoods, Skyline Ridge and La Honda Creek. Projects under consideration include: improving and expanding access to preserves, creating connections between open space lands, protecting critical habitats including second-and old-growth redwood forests, preserving agriculture on the coast, restoring creeks, protecting watersheds and preserving the scenic beauty of the region.

Pete McCloskey: Leading from the Front, A Documentary

Pete McCloskey: Leading From the Front is an hour-long television documentary that tells the colorful and inspirational life story of Pete McCloskey, a true American inspiration. After serving as a Marine during the Korean War, McCloskey went on to represent California's 11th District in Congress from 1967 to 1983. The former lawmaker is also working with the Surfrider Foundation and Martin’s Beach fans to reopen the beach for public use, filing a lawsuit against the beach owner. Screening at Odd Fellows Hall. 526 Main St., Half Moon Bay, at 7:30 p.m.

Coastside Community Orchestra's Winter Concert 

The Coastside Community Orchestra's Winter Concert, at the Community United Methodist Church, features Wagner's Rienzi Overture, Debussy's Petite Suite and Franck's Symphony in D Minor.
