Tuesday, Oct. 1

Half Moon Bay Planning Director Meeting

On the agenda are coastal development permits for the replacement of 28 selected benches along the Coastside Bluff Trail, debris removal activities within the City-owned Kehoe Ditch, and the construction of an attached vestibule to an existing restaurant at 2810 Cabrillo Highway, the location of the now closed Gin Wan Chinese Restaurant.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

2nd Annual Coastside Hope BBQ Fundraiser at Cameron's

Join Coastside Hope for food, music and fun at Cameron's to raise funds for Coastside Hope, a community minded non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safety net of emergency services for those in need in coastal San Mateo County. Ticket includes BBQ Buffet, a free door prize ticket, and live music from Nigel & Clive and the British Invasion.

Thursday, Oct. 3

Open House at Crow's Nest

Crow’s Nest, a stylish retailer specializing in contemporary women's fashion and accessories on Main Street, is hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with refreshments and a festive atmosphere. A special Half Moon Bay bracelet, designed by local artist Kris Nations, will be sold at the store on that day with all proceeds going to the Half Moon Bay High School art department. In addition, 20 percent of sales that day also will go to the art department. Or, shoppers can elect to have 20 percent off their purchases.

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company 

Check out the short documentary "Living Room Revolution: The Race Dialogues" followed by a discussion with the film’s directors Mary Webb and Kate Mayer. As the film follows a diverse group of people who engage in dialogues about race, the discussion following the film will address the task of inspiring others to start their own race discussion groups in order to break down racial barriers.

"The Horse Boy" Screens at Odd Fellows Hall

The film sparked a movement now called Horse Boy Method, helping autistic kids gain direct communication through horses, nature, wilderness and learning through movement. This movie night at Odd Fellow Hall in Half Moon Bay is a benefit for the Square Peg Foundation, helping special needs kids and animals in Half Moon Bay since 2004. On hand at the screening will be Square Peg Foundation’s Joell Dunlap.

Saturday, Oct. 5

The Great Pumpkin Tasting 

Enjoy tastes of pumpkin goodies throughout New Leaf, including pumpkin chai in the juice bar, special pumpkin treats from the bakery, a tasty pumpkin beer in the beer/wine department, pumpkin oil, pumpkin ravioli, and pumpkin jam.
