Friday, Sept. 20

Kevy Nova's 24 Hour Guitar-A-Thon To End Cancer

The first three Guitar-A-Thons raised over $27,500 for the American Cancer Society. Now Kevy Nova is getting ready to play guitar (with lots of special guests) for 24 hours again. The Guitar-A-Thon takes place at Cameron's in Half Moon Bay, starting at 2 p.m. through Sunday, 2 p.m.

Oceana Art Gallery: The Surf Show

Opening night for "The Surf Show," a collection of surf art and photography by surfers, running through Oct. 20 at Oceana Art Gallery, 150 Eureka Square, Pacifica. The opening reception is from 7 to 9 p.m. and the public is invited. It will be hosted by the Oceana Arts Collective — co-directors Elizabeth Marshall, Kay Marshall and Rig Terrell — as well as Vasu Narayanan, the owner of Oceana Market. The gallery will also be open Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

It’s that time of year again when the state’s largest volunteer event gives all Californians the chance to learn about and actively participate in conserving coastal resources. Join your fellow Coastsiders to pick up and clear away debris collecting along our beaches, parks, shoreline, creeks, parking lots and neighborhood streets from before the winter rains wash it all into the ocean. Half Moon Bay Surf Club 6th Annual Luau

Support the Half Moon Bay Surf Club at the annual Luau with good food, good people, and a good cause. All proceeds benefit the half Moon Bay middle and high schools surf teams Half Moon Bay Surf Club, an affiliate of the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside. At IDES Hall. Music by Califuegos. Food by Cooking for Friends and other donors.

"Colors of the Coast" Exhibit - Opening Reception

It's opening night for the "Colors of the Coast" exhibit, which highlights paintings by Ellen Joseph that she created at the beaches from Pacifica to Point Lobos. The majority were done in and around Half Moon Bay and the Coastside, capturing the ocean and shore in a variety of seasons and colors. The Opening Reception is from noon to 5 p.m. and the exhibit will run for several months.

Taste of the Coast

The Sixth Annual "Taste of the Coast" returns to Half Moon Bay at Sea Crest School. This fun-filled food event is designed to delight participants by showcasing dozens of Coastside restaurants and offering an exciting array of silent auction items. All proceeds benefit Senior Coastsiders.

Pedro Point Headlands Workday this Sunday

Join volunteers for a habitat restoration day with projects such as invasive removal and seed collecting. While most of the other plants have dried up and shed their seed, the Pearly Everlasting, Coyote bush, sage, and coffeeberry plants are taking center stage and showing off their colors. This workday is a project of the Pacifica Land Trust, funded by the CA Coastal Conservancy and supported by the Pedro Point Community Association.  

Messages from the Other Side with Felix Lee Lerma at Enso

Join Felix Lee Lerma, a psychic medium and healer from San Francisco, in a 2.5 hour gathering and celebration of love, compassion, life, and the after-life. He will speak briefly about his full time work as a medium and share timely inspirational messages with the audience. After a short break, Felix will move into the group to give messages from those on the other side.
