Blues-Rockin’ Guitar Ace Alastair Greene at the Brewery

Acclaimed blues-rock guitarist-vocalist Alastair Greene returns to perform at Half Moon Bay Brewery at 7 p.m. The Southern California-based musician known for playing blues, rock, and blues-rock, has been busy playing the festival circuit of late from the Real Blues Festival to the upcoming California Beer Festival. In addition to fronting his own longtime Alastair Greene Band since the mid-nineties, Greene is the full-time touring guitarist in the renowned Alan Parsons Live Project, with whom he regularly tours the world.

Saturday, Sept. 14

Montara State Beach Cleanup

Volunteers will remove trash from the shoreline using a picking tool. Drinking water, sunscreen, gloves, pickers and bags will be provided. This is a family friendly event suitable for all ages, physical abilities and friendly-leashed dogs. From 9:30 a.m. to Noon. 

San Mateo County Harbor District's Kite Festival

Kite lovers unite! Bring the family and fly a kite over the bay at Oyster Point Marina Park in South San Francisco to celebrate the San Mateo County Harbor District's 80-year anniversary. Free kites will be given out to the first 1,000 children in attendance and the Oyster Point Yacht Club will be on hand to assist with registration, games and prizes. Free hot dogs will be given away and food trucks are expected to be on site as well. Sam's Chowder House Food Truck will be there.

Lawn Alternatives Workshop 

At this workshop at Yerba Buena Native Plant Nursery in Half Moon Bay, learn how to convert your lawn to a native plant paradise with low-water alternatives that will bring your garden to life with butterflies, hummingbirds and fabulous native plant flowers. You will also bring home a gopher basket that you have made in this class.

Blue Blanket Improv Comedy Improv Show

Looking for some laugh-out-loud, high-energy, affordable comedy theater experience close to home? Blue Blanket Improv performs short form, improvisational comedy. It's never the same show. Audience suggestions are incorporated into amusing scenes made up on the spot. Join the group for a family friendly show at the Odd Fellows Hall in Half Moon Bay.

Diary of Anne Frank at Coastal Repertory Theatre

It’s opening night for the award winning, critically acclaimed version of The Diary of Anne Frank, which ends the Coastal Rep’s season with a riveting view into a young girl's personal account of the Holocaust. Through this family's unimaginable experience the audience will get a glimpse into the spirit, optimism, and nobility of the human soul. Adapted by Wendy Kesselman Directed by Roxane Ashe. Runs through Oct. 5.

Songs of the Gold Rush With Folksinger Tuck Wilson

"A consummate singer/guitarist in the very best sense of the word...(with a) repertoire that is simply mind-blowing...” folksinger and songwriter Tuck Wilson comes to Half Moon Bay for a family friendly show that will provide a glimpse into the life of the '49ers as told through their songs. At Ms. Kitty's Harmony Road in Half Moon Bay from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Charnett Moffett — The Bridge: Solo Bass Tour at the Bach

The bass may not be an instrument which people are accustomed to hearing at length, but on his solo CD The Bridge, Charnett Moffett showcases his "uncanny ability to play melody and harmony while evoking sound that sometimes is like a trumpet, a sitar or a band." Moffett will perform at the Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society at 7:30 p.m.

Hamlet’ at Cameron’s Restaurant 

It’s the last weekend to catch this performance. The Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company presents The Tragedy of HAMLET, Prince of Denmark at Cameron’s Inn and Pub, Cameron’s Outback, Half Moon Bay, with show times on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Food drive benefits Coastside Hope.
