Half Moon Bay High School is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2010. Students can choose from a rich variety of offerings based on their goals or interests, be it in academics, extracurricular activities, or sports.

The school boasts many achievements in all areas as well. School bands have won local, state and national awards. Academically, Half Moon Bay High students have higher standardized test scores than the state average. And the school's chapter of Future Farmers of America has raised steers, hogs, lambs, turkeys, and rabbits for exhibition.

Despite these accomplishments, though, perhaps the school's most notable aspect is the high level of involvement from parents and the community. Principal Mary Streshly says that although Half Moon Bay High School is much smaller than other Bay Area schools, the level of engagement with students is much higher.

"Half Moon Bay High is the flagship of the community," she says. "They want this school to be a great school."
