Does anyone have any fact-based explanations for why HMB HS's dropout rate is declining (and goingRead More in opposite direction of rest of state)? And, of course, how we can get this fixed? P.S. Just imagine if we put as much energy and money into our education as we do to our petty local wars (e.g. Fire Board)... sigh...

I agree, Drew.....a good teacher can make a world of difference. I'm happy that I finally got backRead More to John Stuart after many years, to tell him so, while he was still here.

Thanks for sharing your photos, Deb. Those great teachers have an immeasurable influence. I willRead More never forget Ms. Wartik, my fifth and sixth grade math teacher, and Mr. O'Malley, my high school photography teacher.

It's a great article and it's so nice to read about a high school arts program still up and runningRead More and thriving! Arts once flourished in California public schools ... before more than $20 billion dollars were cut out of our California schools. Now many schools don’t require the arts as part of a quality education. How wonderful for the students that representatives from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco attended as well!

Great article, Chelsea!

You can't squeeze blood from a turnip. Now, having said that, it is a crying shame that theseRead More teachers, who I have the greatest respect for, can't get a little break. I know there is no money out there, but can we cut something? I am sure teachers can think of something that can be cut. We all see waste. These teachers deserve a raise.

Thank you for doing that.

I disagree that students should fight the intruder at their school. They should leave it to theRead More teachers. Though I do respect that they help the student at their school.

If Jo Tog had only one account, he probably would watch his language, because he wouldn't want toRead More get banned for failing to follow Patch's Terms Of Service. The fact that he would post something practically crying out for Patch admin to ban him makes it pretty clear he doesn't care if that particular account gets deleted.

Vince is back! BRENDA and JUSTINA are, too LOL

Bren--yeah I noticed that too. He is really losing it more and more each day. Once he started sayingRead More the president is not a citizen, I knew he either stopped taking his meds, or needs more. We must pity the wretch.
